If you usually book a winter beach trip last minute to get a better deal as airlines and tour companies try to fill the seats, you may want to change that tactic this year.
The owner of UNIGLOBE Carefree Travel Saskatoon reminds everyone that Transat Holidays isn’t flying from Saskatoon or Regina this winter, which means fewer flights and options.
The announcement was made this spring that Transat is renewing its fleet but hopes to return to the province in a few years.
Jamie Milton says that means fewer options for direct flights so there may not be that many empty seats that need to be filled last minute.
Milton suggests booking earlier to make sure you get the trip you want.
She adds that it’s a good idea to have travel insurance.
If you buy your ticket well ahead of time, the airline may make changes in the schedule, meaning your connecting flights no longer connect.
For the most part, that is something covered by the airline, but last minute cancellations from bad weather or being delayed at the airport probably aren’t, which is where the insurance comes in.
