The Saskatoon Airport Authority’s annual report states that there was just over a 22 per cent increase in passengers last year and an almost 12 per cent increase in flights, which includes all aircraft, not just commercial flights.
President and CEO Stephen Maybury says that’s due to increased service by Air Canada into the main hubs of Toronto and Vancouver, as well as West Jet bringing on new routes, like the transborder access into Minneapolis.
As well, service into Montreal for the summer, which used to stop in Regina, will now be a direct flight from Saskatoon.
A new flight option begins soon.
Porter Airlines will be offering daily service to Toronto beginning mid-May.
Maybury says, with Porter’s strong connections and partner airlines, this new route allows for greater connectivity, a new air travel experience and more flight options.
