The work of local students is going to grace the sides of some of Saskatoon’s city buses this summer.
Winners of the 5th annual Student Art Contest with the focus on active transportation were from Ecole Alvin Buckwold School and Lakeridge School. The winning entries highlighted the importance of public transit, cycling, walking, e-scooters, car sharing, taxis, carpooling, and ride-sharing.

Ada, Vera, Skylar, Samar and Juliette contributed to the Grade 3 winning entry while Raowha at Lakeridge School was the Grade 7 winner.
In a news release Jennifer Haywood, Superintendent of Education at Saskatoon Public Schools says, “Congratulations to both schools for their creative artwork that brings these ideas to life in a beautiful visual, hopefully inspiring others to adopt healthier and more sustainable transportation habits.”
A total of ten buses throughout the city will feature the artwork.
