Thirty-five local states of emergency have been declared as widespread flooding impacts north-central, northeast and east-central Saskatchewan.

Added to the list since Tuesday are the Muskoday First Nation, the Village of White Fox and the following 11 rural municipalities: Aberdeen, Big River, Garden River, Moose Range, Kinistino, Invermay, LeRoy, Prairie Rose, Sasman, Usborne and Wolverine.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is working with multiple agencies to provide resources and support, such as 1,000 feet of HESCO flood barriers to the RM of Buckland.

The Saskatchewan Water Security Agency (WSA) reports that record flows are being report on parts of the Carrot River. Smoky Burn recorded the highest water flow in recorded history at nearly 1,000 cubic metres per second, or about five times the normal flow for this time of year. There are 11 provincial highway closures related to flooding and about eight incidents involving water on roadways.  Dan Palmer with the Ministry of Highways says it is too early to know what the full impact and cost of flooding will be because the event is still unfolding. Motorist are advised to check with the Highway Hotline prior to travelling in flooded areas. Rural municipalities are having a very challenging time as well attempting to fix as many road washouts as possible prior to seeding.
