Saskatoon’s economic recovery has now risen to 79.3 per cent according to SREDA’s economic recovery tracker. A news release from SREDA states that active businesses, a majority of aggregate sectors, manufacturing shipments and retail sales have fully recovered.
Other factors boosted the rating including travel and hospitality beginning to recover. Airport passenger traffic rose from 9.1 per cent to 59.3 per cent recovery. Hotel occupancy in August was 99.5 per cent of pre-pandemic levels, although seasonal shifts are still expected.
SREDA does note that Saskatoon’s recovery is being dampened by falling employment numbers. Employment recovery fell from 89.1 per cent to 81.5 per cent this quarter.
