Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe is heading to Toronto next week to promote investment opportunities in the province at the Canada Investment Summit. The September 14 and 15 summit will bring together investors, CEOs, entrepreneurs and business leaders from around the world. Moe is expected to highlight opportunities in Saskatchewan’s energy, critical minerals, defence and agriculture sectors as the province looks to attract more investment.
“The world is uncertain, Saskatchewan is not,” Moe said in a statement. He said the province is well positioned to meet growing global demand for food, fuel, fertilizer and critical minerals. Moe said promoting Saskatchewan directly to investors could bring new projects to the province, create jobs and support economic growth.
The provincial government will also host an Invest in Saskatchewan Forum during the summit, with a focus on nuclear development and the uranium sector. The event will include a fireside chat featuring Moe, Cameco CEO Tim Gitzel and former prime minister Stephen Harper. Saskatchewan officials will also give companies an opportunity to showcase major projects currently being developed across several industries.
The province says Saskatchewan attracted $13.6 billion in private capital investment last year, a 12 per cent increase that ranked first among Canadian provinces. There are also 60 large-scale projects either being planned or already underway, representing more than $62 billion in investment. The government says those projects are helping strengthen Saskatchewan’s role in global food and energy security.
