The City of Saskatoon is introducing a new program to help people understand the energy and water performance in their buildings and get the financial aid they need for qualify projects.
The Commercial Energy Planner and the Commercial Energy Loan Program are designed to help affordable housing providers and owners of commercial, institutional, industrial and multi-unit residential buildings.
Building owners participating in the CEP will have access to energy and emissions benchmarking, building performance reports, comparative insights and performance labels, guidance on opportunities to improve efficiency, and support in developing retrofit plans and investment strategies.
Through the CEP participants will be able to access the loan program. The loan program provides financing for approved projects, such as energy and water efficiency upgrades, renewable energy installations, climate resiliency enhancements, and other approved building improvements. People need to participate in the CEP before they can access the loan program.
Registration for the CEP is now open for eligible building owners. More information on the program and who qualifies can be found at saskatoon.ca/CEP.
The projects is partially funded through the Government of Canada’s Deep Retrofit Accelerator Initiative, as well as a $500,000 grant from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund, funded by the Government of Canada.
