A heavy police presence in the area of 50th Avenue near 47th Street on Monday was because of a shooting in Lloydminster.

Lloydminster RCMP responded around 11:09 a.m. to a complaint of shots fire. Fire and EMS also arrived at the scene and began life saving measures of a victim who was later declared dead at the scene.

RCMP have confirmed that the suspect is still at large, but police believe it was a targeted incident. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) have taken carriage of the investigation.
