Saskatoon City Council approved a new Transit bylaw this week.
The City says it “establishes clear, modern rules for using Saskatoon Transit and helps create a safer, cleaner and more comfortable experience for riders and employees.”
The new bylaw covers fare payment and pass use, customer responsibilities while riding transit, gives Saskatoon Transit the authority to address unacceptable behavior as well as administrative enforcement measures and appeal processes.
When it comes to customer responsibilities that includes keeping aisles clear, respecting operators and fellow passengers as well as protecting Saskatoon Transit property.
As far addressing unacceptable behavior that could mean removing individuals or restricting their future access.
The new bylaw replaces the existing fare bylaw and introduces a single framework covering fares, customer conduct, Transit property and enforcement measures.
The bylaw also establishes Saskatoon Transit fares and fees. By the way fare rates change September 1st with future fare adjustments scheduled for January 1, 2027.
