I saw a shout out on social media to three young fellows who immediately pitched in to help a senior in a scooter struggling to get it maneuvered onto the sidewalk. The person posting had the best line – “Bless them and their parents for raising good humans.” I wanted to mention this because the degree of animosity and lack of expectation in the city, in the country, in the world seems to run deep these days with little else penetrating the cloud of negativity. I mean just watch people when you are headed home for the day and the number of motorists who are either experiencing road rage or are probably on the verge of it, is really unfortunate. Just take a beat, take a breath, everyone will get to where they are going. And sometimes it’s the little things that reshape how you spend a drive home or start your day or deal with appointments and tasks. All takes is a minute to hold a door for someone, to genuinely thank the cashier, the person serving you coffee at Tim Horton’s drive thru. Even if they don’t immediately acknowledge, at some level they will feel your sincerity. Look people in the eye when you thank them or say good morning. Small connections count in a world where everything has sped up, and everyone seems to be going a hundred miles an hour to get to whatever the next thing is. I think we should all be striving to put forth that which would cause someone to say, “You’re a good human.”
It’s the little things that can add up to alot
