Environment Canada says on Sunday severe thunderstorms developed in eastern Saskatchewan with a tornado confirmed near Pelly at 6:10 p.m. The national weather agency says it received multiple reports through social media and storm reports of the tornado.
A possible tornado was sited near Stornoway earlier in the day at 2:17 p.m. In this case Environment Canada says there is insufficient evidence to confirm a tornado however in both instances Environment Canada is collaborating with the Northern Tornadoes Project as they investigate further.
In addition, there was quarter sized hail reported near Burgis Beach, which is southwest of Canora, around 4:00 p.m. Golf ball sized hailed was reported near North Portal at the U.S. border in the southeast, around 5:00 p.m.
