This Sunday is the last Easter Sunday service at Saskatoon’s Third Avenue United Church.

The church opened June 27th, 1913 and will have its final service June 30th of this year. The church holds 12 hundred but has a dwindling congregation with only 30 to 45 people who have to cover the cost of renting the building from the owners.

It was designated a municipal heritage propery last August. The designation prevents future owners from altering its English Gothic architecture, including its stained glass windows, doors, and pillars, along with the exterior of the building.

The church houses a Casavant organ which has 2-thousand-4-hundred-68 pipes plus 20 bells. The final Easter service is at 10:30 am on Sunday morning.
