Those between the ages of 14 and 21 can now receive free mental health training from the Saskatchewan Safety Council. People who are interested can sign up by visiting the Saskatchewan Safety Council’s website and clicking on the career safety education link.
Merissa Scarlett from the Saskatchewan Safety Council says the course starts by going over an individual’s rights as a worker then mental health training follows.
Scarlett says the mental health component talks about stressors, identifying stressors, how to cope and gives methods on self-care and how it’s different for everybody.
The online training also covers WHMIS to help identify chemicals in the workplace and electives in the training range from healthcare to agriculture.
