With the federal Liberals in Saskatoon this week, including the Prime Minister, for a Caucus meeting, there have been visits by many of the Ministers to spread their message about what programs they have for the public or the work that is going on.
Yesterday (Tues), Filomena Tassi, Minister of Seniors, visited the Sherbrooke Community Centre to acknowledge the work being done to help some of Canada’s most vulnerable populations.
The Alzheimer’s Society of Canada has recognized Sherbrooke as having a model program, using the “Eden Alternative” philosophy of care, which is resident-directed and allows them to live in houses or communal groupings living spaces.
Minister Tassi says a resident-directed program like the one at the Sherbrooke Community Centre greatly contributes to the wellbeing of seniors.
In 13 years, by 2031, there will be almost 9-million seniors in Canada, which will be about a quarter of the country’s population.
