Suncrest College and Yellow Quill First Nation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (M-O-U) aimed at expanding education, training, and employment opportunities for community members.

The agreement was formally signed on August 26 during a ceremony in Yellow Quill First Nation attended by leaders from both organizations, including Chief and Council representatives and senior administration from Suncrest College.

The partnership establishes a framework for collaboration focused on increasing access to culturally relevant education and training, supporting skills development that aligns with labour market needs, creating pathways to employment, and pursuing joint strategic initiatives.

Chief John Machiskinic said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to creating opportunities that benefit community members through education, skills training, and workforce development. He noted the partnership lays the groundwork for future initiatives that will support community growth and long-term success.

Alison Dubreuil, President and C-E-O of Suncrest College, said the College looks forward to working alongside Yellow Quill First Nation in ways that respond to community priorities and future needs. She said the agreement will help strengthen opportunities for education, training, and employment while fostering a collaborative relationship built on mutual learning and respect.

Both organizations say the M-O-U provides a foundation for ongoing collaboration and the exploration of new initiatives that support the priorities of Yellow Quill First Nation and contribute to regional development.
