This is Vanese Ferguson with Coffee Talk. Parking in Saskatoon. I have finally gotten the hang of the City of Saskatoon’s parking app but it was recently brought to my attention that Precise ParkLink which is private parking – uses the same app. I heard someone got a parking ticket after opening the app while in the parking space – whichwas a city space – and it presented a location based on where that person was, so that was the location used. But in fact they were paying for a private parking lot nearby. First of all if you use the app – the whole City of Saskatoon comes under one number as a locater. Its 1333. Always 1333 if you’re parked in a City of Saskatoon parking spot. But what if you don’t use the app? I mean I only started using it because I can add more time and not have to run back to where vehicle is to find a physical meter. Plus in certain parts of the city I don’t love pulling out a credit card to feed into the machine. And yes, often times I have found some of the machines aren’t great with change – if you’re even carrying change anymore. Next, a good friend of mine recently had a bad experience at RUH regarding parking. She was rushed to hospital by her dad. They parked in Emergency where she was going. Of course, as it always is, the wait was several hours, and her dad left to move the vehicle due restrictions in time to park there and found a ticket – because they weren’t parked perfectly within the lines designated for the parking spot. And that’s because the vehicle beside them, when they arrived, was parked incorrectly. Fifty bucks and her dad went to the office where can inquire about said tickets – by the way only open for specific durations -and they did not care. It is bad enough that you are at a hospital emergency presumably because you are very ill and now the parking nazi’s descend. Class with a capital “K”.
