The Friendship Inn is reminding home gardeners that they will take any of their extra home grown produce.
This summer alone has seen the Friendship Inn serving between 1,500 and 2,000 meals per day. They will take any home grown produce, with zucchini and crab apples being some of the more commonly donated produce.
Friendship Inn CEO Sandra Kary says the only prep people are asked to do is to clean there vegetables before donating them.
“We do well with just those root vegetables. Those are the kinds of things we can process down into soups and stews and so that’s great. So that’s kinda generally the things were looking for.”
Donations can be made at the South end of the Friendship Inn building between 8am and 2:15pm.
People can help out in ways other than donating, such as volunteering. The Friendship Inn releases a list of needs every Wednesday for people looking to donate other items.
