The NDP critic for SGI, Darcy Warrington spoke to the media outside Minister Jeremy Harrison’s office at the Legislature on Tuesday afternoon, a few days after a decision by the Saskatchewan Rate Review Panel. The Panel recommended against the Saskatchewan Auto Fund’s application for a 3.75 per cent increase for 2027-28 at this time, while supporting the same increase for 2026-27 that came into effect June 1st.
The recommendations will go to the cabinet for a final decision, with the provincial government saying it will take time to review the report.
The Rate Review Panel acknowledged the financial pressures the Auto Fund has been under. Warrington blames the pressure on the Auto Fund on “years and years of mismanagement by the Sask Party government.”
