The Public Service Alliance of Canada says the future of the Scott and Indian Research Farms remains at risk, despite a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the federal and Saskatchewan government at the recent federal/provincial agriculture ministers conference in Halifax.

The Union says the MOU is non-binding and there are many questions about how Saskatchewan would be able to maintain research being done by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Indian Head and Scott are among seven research farms being eliminated in an effort to reduce costs at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada..

Milton Dyck is the president of the Agriculture Union under the Public Service Alliance of Canada. PSAC represents 32 employees at Scott and Indian Head. in an interview with CJWW Agriculture Director Neil Billinger, Milton Dyck says there are few details available about the recent MOU between the federal and Saskatchewan governments.

Dyck still hopes the original cuts can be reversed, even at this late date.
