A new member was elected to the Sturgeon Lake First Nation council following the election in March.

Austin Naytowhow will be serving his first term alongside five returning council members, and Chief Christine Longjohn was reelected for her second term as well.

During the March 31st election, 707 ballots were cast out of 2236 eligible voters.

The new leadership was welcomed into power with a pipe and swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday at the Sturgeon Lake First Nation Band Hall.
