A new children’s book that was released in Saskatchewan this week has been translated into eight different Indigenous languages. The book titled “A Tale of a Tail” is in the languages of Woodland Cree, Plains Cree, Swampy Cree, Saulteaux, Dene, Nakota, Lakota, and Dakota. Author Mike Parkhill says the book is designed for children ages two to six and copies of the book will go to the Saskatchewan Indigenous Cultural Centre which will distribute the copies to different schools across the province. Once distributed, the book will become available online at the SayITFirst website. Last year Parkhill says he wrote books that were in Plains Cree, Swampy Cree and Woodland Cree but this year after attending a language conference, he wanted to write a book that was translated in more First Nations languages. For many of the languages, this is the first book in that language ever published.
