Those in Saskatoon facing visual or hearing challenges will appreciate a recent installation of 20 Touchless Accessible Pedestrian Signals at intersections across the city.

The new additions, funded through the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative, feature auditory crossing cues that can be activated by waving your hand in front of the push button.

Pedestrians can still press the button, which now includes a vibrating arrow.

In a news release, Director of Transportation Jay Magus says, “The City remains committed to ongoing programs that retrofit older intersections with APS devices, meaning accessibility measures are consistently prioritized.
