General Manager at the Saskatoon Housing Authority Alex McKay-Argyriou says that historically, the housing corporation’s portfolio has been directed at seniors and families, however the need to house singles and those with accessible needs has grown significantly.
“We’re seeing that need for (housing for) the non-elder singles. There’s a higher need in our waitlist. We still have a lot of families and stuff like that that we’re trying to house, but I think with the need of the non-elder singles, it made more sense for us to try and target that population at this point in time.”
Construction, which will be done by KBI Construction, is expected to kick off as soon as possible, and be complete by this time next year.
