it’s my Parting Shot for my Monday Musings…..

I’m wearing my white Winnipeg Jets’ jersey today – to celebrate the fact that my favourite N-H-L team won their last game yesterday. I do it this way, as opposed to some of my work colleagues who wear their jerseys to signify that their team is playing that night. So, what happens if your team loses?! I’d rather wear a jersey after a win, rather than be left sad and let down by your club – but that’s just me!!

I also believe that when buying a jersey of your favourite team, you put your last name and your favourite number on the back, instead of the name and number of your favourite player! Those players come and go very readily in sports today, but your being a fan and supporting that team will never die! I see a lot of “Dressler” number 7 jerseys at Mosaic Stadium – you folks do know that he is retired and never coming back to play, right?!

My Jets are tied for the Central Division lead, but are listed first because they have played fewer games than Colorado and Dallas. For some people, that is enough to make them believe that Winnipeg will finish first and play a wild-card team in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. For me, I’ll wait to see how they fare on their current five-game road trip. Yes, they looked after business yesterday against last place Columbus, but how about the first place Rangers or New Jersey, the Islanders and Washington before coming home to take on powerhouse Edmonton and defending champion Vegas? Talk to me about Winnipeg being first in the Central after all of that!!

Not that a million dollars isn’t worth it, but after so many years of Warren Buffett’s money not being claimed by someone with a perfect bracket for March Madness, maybe Mr. Buffet should up the ante to, say, two million dollars and really get people to go crazy with trying to predict the outcome of every game of the N-C-A-A men’s basketball tournament!
