A Saskatoon theatre company is travelling the province with ten shows at schools in rural Saskatchewan Today (Mon) through the 17th and then performing at Broadway Theatre on Sunday, the 18th. It’s also 25th Street Theatre’s 50th season.

The play by Saskatchewan playwright Danielle Roy will be a world premiere. Luna is the story of a young girl who builds a time machine in her dad’s garage to go back in time to unfreeze her mother. The message in the performance is love, loss and acceptance.

Artistic and executive director, Anita Smith, understands that so many people lost access to the live performing arts during the pandemic. She says, “Now that we are able to offer these programs again, it is vital that we create opportunities for young people across the province to engage with theatre. They are the next generation of theatre makers and theatre goers.” After the school shows, the cast will give student workshops on topics like storytelling, movement and props to share what they know about theatre creation.
