Premier Scott Moe says by-elections serve as a way for voters to send a message to the provincial government, and it is now time for him to act on the message that was sent this week.
Moe says several pertinent issues came up on the doorstep this election season. They include cost of living increases and the rise in homelessness that comes with that. He says his government has been trying to combat these problems by making utility rates as low as possible for Saskatchewan residents. So much so, that the latest Crown utility report didn’t show much for profits.
Moe thanked and congratulated the candidates that ran in the three by-elections. Both Regina Coronation Park and Regina Walsh Acres voted in NDP candidates – Noor Burki and Jared Clark.
Although the Saskatchewan Party lost those two constituencies, they secured Lumsden-Morse, and Premier Scott Moe says it might have to do with the Planned Parenthood presentation at the Lumsden high school in June.
Moe says many parents are still concerned over an incident where a pamphlet of graphic sexual vocabulary was presented through letters of the alphabet. After the incident, education minister Dustin Duncan suspended the organization from presenting in Saskatchewan schools. Moe says Duncan will be putting forward a plan in the new few weeks to make sure that nothing of that sort happens again, and the people of Lumsden trust the Sask. party to deal with the matter.
