Two programs that Saskatchewan residents needed to leave the province to get previously are starting their first round of classes at the University of Saskatchewan today (Monday)

The Master of Occupational Therapy and the Master of Speech-Language Pathology were offered through interprovincial agreements and only had 50 seats reserved for Saskatchewan students

The two courses at USask will have 40 seats in each program and are 27-month full-time programs.

Molly Morris is a student in the Speech-Language Pathology program. Morris originates from Regina.

“I could stay with my people. It takes a little bit of the nervous away because I know my environment, I’m from around here, I’m on my stomping ground so I feel a little more comfortable.”

The province invested $37 million to help establish the programs. Both programs will be housed in the USask’s School of Rehabilitation Science in the Collage of Medicine. The careers that the programs lead into provide help for children, seniors, and people living with disabilities, injuries, and illnesses.
