A concerted effort by officers from six Saskatchewan R-C-M-P detachments as well as the Roving Traffic Unit, Alberta R-C-M-P and the Luseland Police Service has led to recovery of four of six new vehicles that were stolen early Tuesday morning from a Rosetown auto dealership.
Rosetown R-C-M-P say that around 6:30 a.m. on June 21, thieves drove off with the six vehicles, leaving behind a van that had been reported stolen in Alberta several hours earlier. Not long after that, R-C-M-P received a report of suspicious vehicles traveling at high speed on a grid road. Shortly thereafter, officers found two of the vehicles abandoned near Rosetown and another abandoned near Luseland. Officers from Luseland police then aided R-C-M-P in stopping a fourth vehicle.
The two people inside attempted to flee, but were quickly located and arrested. Officers found two illegally modified firearms, ammunition and a box full of vehicle keys in the fourth vehicle. Lee Falsetta, 36-years-old, and Samantha Riggins, 34-years-old, both of Red Deer, are each charged with breaking and entering and committing an indictable offence.
Describing it as a dynamic and multi-jurisdictional effort Rosetown RCMP Sergeant Jason Waldner says, “Early in this investigation, we alerted the public to report sightings and information through local media and a Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory. We’d like to thank members of the public who reported information about suspicious vehicles in their area – it helped the investigation.”
Further investigation determined some of the outstanding vehicles may be in Alberta; one was later recovered in Red Deer by Red Deer RCMP.
Saskatchewan and Alberta RCMP continue to investigate and are trying to locate the two outstanding vehicles, which are:
– a black 2022 Jeep Wrangler last seen with no license plate
– a grey 2019 Ford 350 with Saskatchewan license plate 287LLV.
If you see these vehicles, do not approach them. For sightings or to report information about this incident, contact your local RCMP detachment or police service.
