The family of “Happy” Mary Charles who has been missing since April of last year is inviting everyone to join them in their healing and awareness journey as they walk from Prince Albert to La Ronge.
Happy’s stepfather, Carson Poitras, says they are raising funds to help continue the search, post a reward, and the big dream is to raise some seed money for a centre in Prince Albert where the families of missing persons can go to get advice and support.
Poitras says having a loved one missing is not something he would wish upon anyone.
The walk began on Sunday and along with bringing awareness about Happy Charles still being missing, awareness on murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls, and Poitras adds, all people who are missing.
If you are traveling between Prince Albert and La Ronge, you will see the Healing Awareness Walk along the highway.
Poitras expects they will reach La Ronge by Sunday.
