Almost a hundred projects have been approved in 92 communities to increase traffic safety.
Communities will receive grants, ranging between $502 to $53,685. A total of $1.18 million is being provided from the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grant program 9
The funding will help communities manage speed, improve school zone safety, and install pedestrian crosswalks in rural, urban and Indigenous communities across the province. A full list of approved projects and grant amounts is attached.
Provincial Traffic Safety Fund grants are awarded to communities twice a year, using a portion of the proceeds from Photo Speed Enforcement (PSE) in the province.
Some of the initiatives awarded in this round include $23,100 for intersection safety in the RM of meeting Lake No.466; $41,314 is being given to the Town of Wawota for speed management. and the Town of Lanigan will receive $37,740 for their Lighte Way for Pedestrians initiative.
The deadline for applications for the next round of grants is March 31.
