With flurries in the forecast, CAA is providing Saskatchewan drivers with some winter safety tips.
Lona Gervais with CAA says if the temperature is consistently below minus seven degrees, the winter tires need to go on. You should also pack a roadside safety kit which includes warm clothing, food, water, a shovel, rope, flashlight, booster cables, and a snowbrush.
“If it’s really foggy and snowing really hard, make sure your light are on; both your headlights and your taillights.”
She adds that checking the road and weather conditions before you head out is a great idea, as is defrosting all of your windows, pulling over in bad visibility, and keeping an eye out for snowplows.
“Also slow to 60 for tow truck operators, emergency personnel, and law enforcement. They’re out there helping stranded motorists, and it’s really important you slow down for them, so they get home safety at the end of their workday.”
She adds that those looking for more information can head here.
