Residents, businesses, and organizations are invited to share their input as Prairieland prepares a new masterplan for the site it sits on.
Gavin Conacher is Prairieland’s Director of Business Development and Government Relations.
He says O2 Planning and Design, a Canadian planning and landscape architecture firm, will be tasked with reworking the layout of the 120-acre parcel based on public feedback and Prairieland’s own objectives.
“We need financial sustainability out of it. It’s a nonprofit corporation that doesn’t rely on funding from government to operate. We’re trying to connect with the community, as we have right from where we started. We’re trying to showcase our success right in Saskatchewan.” Conacher explains that one of the master planners on the project is from Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, with a high degree of familiarity with the property, a genuine interest in the project, and experience in the design space.
He says the city has grown by 50 per cent since the last investment was made in Prairieland infrastructure, back in 2007, and the current site can’t keep up with demand.
“The limitation is around space for exhibitors. In the case of our Crop Production Show, we have a long waiting list of exhibitors who would love to be here, but they have to go to other shows to exhibit, because we can’t accommodate them.”
