Pinehouse RCMP have arrested 34-year-old Damion Anderson of Ile-a-la-Crosse in connection with a July 26 shooting on Highway 165 that left one man seriously injured.
Anderson had already been charged on September 9 with seven offences, including aggravated assault and discharging a firearm with intent.
A Saskatchewan RCMP news release said that on September 26, RCMP located Anderson during an investigation involving two suspicious vehicles near Pinehouse Lake. Both vehicles attempted to flee police. With assistance from RCMP units in La Ronge and Beauval, police arrested four individuals, seized illicit cannabis and cash, and recovered a vehicle reported stolen from Meadow Lake. Anderson is also charged with one count, flight from peace officer; one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; one count, resist peace officer; one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000 and one count, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling,
A second man, 24-year-old Brendan McKay of Meadow Lake, has also been charged with multiple offences – one count, flight from peace officer; one count, operate a conveyance while prohibited; three counts, assault peace officer; one count, resist peace officer; one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one count, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. McKay was also arrested for breaching a conditional sentence order.
Both Anderson and McKay were scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Monday. Two other individuals arrested during the operation were released, one without charge and the other pending charges.
The investigation stems from a July 26 shooting on Highway 165 between Pinehouse and La Ronge. RCMP say occupants of a white truck and a grey truck interacted, and a firearm was discharged, seriously injuring the driver of the white truck. The injuries were not considered life-threatening. RCMP have been investigating since July and previously charged Miami Morin in connection with fleeing police in a stolen vehicle linked to the case.
