Turtleford RCMP have charged two people after a traffic stop near Highway 21 in the R-M of Frenchman Butte on September 24.

According to a Saskatchewan RCMP news release, officers stopped a truck that was being driven without lights and determined the driver was prohibited from driving. Police also observed drug trafficking paraphernalia in plain view. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 40 grams of suspected cocaine, cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation, 32-year-old Colby Riguidel of the R-M of Frenchman Butte and 45-year-old Christine Russel of St. Walburg, were each charged with possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Riguidel also faces charges of operating a vehicle while prohibited and two counts of failing to comply with release order conditions.

A third occupant of the vehicle was released without charge.

The accused were scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Monday. The investigation remains ongoing.
