Saskatoon Crime Stoppers is asking the public for its help in identifying a suspect who police say assaulted and uttered death threats towards a local cab driver.

Around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday July 21st the cab picked up their fare in the 1300 block of Central Avenue from a local bar.

The passenger was intoxicated and an argument took place between he and the cab driver.

Saskatoon police say the suspect attacked the cab driver punching him in the head multiple times, hitting him in the neck with a bottle of alcohol, and then grabbing him by the throat while also repeatedly threatening to kill him.

The operator of the cab managed to get out of the vehicle and flag down a passerby for help.

The suspect is a man in his late fifties or early sixties.  He has grey receding hair with white moustache and sideburns and gave the name “Steve” when he ordered the cab. He was wearing a blue plaid shirt, blue jeans and white runners.
