The Saskatoon Police Service responded to a disturbance outside a downtown apartment building early Wednesday morning and found a woman with a serious injury.

The call came in at 1:40 a.m. from the 500 block of 24th Street East.

A 55-year-old woman is being treated in hospital following the assault. Police say they also located a 69-year-old suspect nearby and that he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

The man is now facing charges of Aggravated Assault, Breach of Probation and Possession of Methamphetamine.
