A few hours after the CCMA sold out Legends concert at Dakota Dunes Casino on Monday night Corman Park Police say they pulled over an impaired driver on Highway 219.
Officers pulled over a vehicle shortly after midnight Tuesday that they say was speeding and swerving.
The driver provided a breath sample into an Approved Screening Device which resulted in a FAIL. The driver was arrested and charged after providing breath samples of .16 and .14.
Corman Park Police say two hours earlier highway 219 was swamped with traffic after the concert traffic from the Casino made their way back to Saskatoon but luckily no accidents occurred and everyone was able to make it back to Saskatoon safely.
Meanwhile, Country Music Week in Saskatoon continues to roll out the talent with the Songwriters Unplugged at 2 this afternoon at the Capital Music Club and at 8p.m. tonight its the Top of the Country Finale Concert at Coors Event Centre where Canada’s top emerging country talent compete for the coveted title and $25,000 grand prize.
Mayor Cynthia Block says the event is expected to generate $16 million in economic impact for Saskatoon.
“I think foundationally though what I think make this so important is how Saskatoon gets to be seen on the national stage and it shows Saskatoon can host big events like this.”
The Legends Show at Dakota Dunes featured Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Jason Blaine, Jason McCoy, and Michelle Wright but Country Music Week officially kicked off yesterday and will culminate in the concert and awards show Saturday night at SaskTel Centre.
