The City of Prince Albert is inviting Indigenous artists to submit original artwork for transit shelters, with the goal of celebrating Indigenous culture, identity and creativity.

The project is being led by the City’s Arts and Culture Division and is part of its Municipal Cultural Action Plan. Officials say the artwork will add bright, welcoming designs to shelters while helping address vandalism and promoting community pride, belonging and reconciliation.

Three designs will be selected in the first phase, including two metal shelter-back designs and one vinyl wrap. Each selected artist will receive a one-thousand-dollar honorarium, with more artwork potentially chosen in future phases.

The City says the initiative is intended to highlight the creativity and contributions of Indigenous people in Prince Albert.
