I’m seeing a whole lot of people echoing my own thoughts – summer please slow down! I feel like we just got started and dare I say that the leaves are turning on some trees. I try to convince myself it’s because of that hot dry spell we had but really suspect it is not the case. I need another month for my tomatoes to finish coming in which is bizarre to say the least. And I’m hearing from other gardeners much the same. My sister-in-law planted a pumpkin patch this year because her favourite time of year is fall. I do like fall, but I hate giving up summer. And of course, the days are getting shorter but it always so much more dramatic to lose almost two hours of daylight before the end of August. I was though not one of the very unlucky gardeners or farmers who got hailed out with severe weather earlier in the summer. Mayfair Pool in Saskatoon closed for the summer mid-month, George Ward closed yesterday, Lathey is open till the 30th and Riversdale Pool closes September 2nd. The summer play programs are closed for the season, and the spray pads last day is September 7th. So sad to see you go summer and here’s hoping for a second summer somewhere around mid-September!
