This is Vanese Ferguson with Coffee Talk. I thought a lot of the congestion in Stonebridge mid afternoon and for all the neighbourhoods within a few kilometres of Holy Cross and Walter Murray was due to the school year. You know, around 3 or 3:30 and everything is locked up from Taylor to Circle and then in Stonebridge traffic is just streaming from east and west off Stonebridge Boulevard merging north on Clarence. But then school let out. And while better around the two high schools – it still gets backed up by 3:30 or four o’clock going south to Circle Drive from the Market Mall area – so not all about school. And I don’t even think necessarily all about construction. I think we have more people in the city and more people moving around during the day increasing traffic volumes regardless of other impediments. However, back to construction. Here’s a little extra special aggravant this week. Melville is closed, again, for a Sanitary Trunk project – as one woman pointed out – it feels like that’s been going on for about 8 years. I know its been at least two. Okay, so you can’t get to Jasper off Lorne via Melville. But you can hang a right after the car dealerships and go up to Portage then make your way up and down Jasper, until you couldn’t. Portage and Jasper is now closed. Appears to be a whole bunch of SaskEnergy work going on. So you get rerouted around that construction, through a metal gate of someone else’s property, past some sea cans and then you can access that stretch of Jasper again. Now just saying – wouldn’t logic dictate that one of these projects be complete before embarking on the second one? Oh yeah and when is University Bridge opening – aren’t they back to class at USask next week?
