The Prince Albert Police Service says a stabbing they responded to on Thursday has been ruled a homicide.

Officers were dispatched at 1:55 a.m. to a report of a stabbing in the unit block of 14th Street East and located 27 year old Daina Gauthier with serious injuries and provided first aid until Parkland Ambulance arrived. Gauthier was transported to hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

An autopsy was completed Thursday as well. While a 16 year old male and a 15 year old female were arrested in relation to the incident, the Prince Albert Police Service Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate with support from the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

Police presence in the area has been lifted. Anyone who has information about this incident, or who may have witnessed events leading up to it, is asked to contact the Prince Albert Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
