With strike looming WestJet offers passengers a chance to change or cancel some flights at no cost

With the possibility of a strike looming WestJet is offering guests travelling July 30 to August 4th to make a one-time change or cancellation at no cost.

Last week, the airline’s cabin crew voted 99.4 per cent in favour of walking off the job. There are about 4,400 employees represented by CUPE Local 8125 who could legally walk off the job August 2.

On its website the Calgary based airline says it is actively engaged in negotiations with the union representing WestJet cabin crew. One of the main sticking points is that the says flight attendants work hours without compensation because they are only paid when the flight is in the air.
