The Saskatoon Police Service is reminding people to be aware of an ongoing text scam.
The scam has people receiving text messages impersonating a police officer and claiming the recipient has a provincial court traffic violation and needs to appear in court. It then asks people to click a link to pay a fine.
The Saskatoon Police Service reminds people the messages are a scam, to not click the link, and to not make any payments to the associated website.
Its encouraged that people contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre if they receive a suspicious text. If someone has been a victim of the scam they are asked to report it to the Saskatoon Police Service by calling 306-975-8300 instead.
