Artificial Intelligence Saskatchewan is piloting a new program on AI literacy.
The course is called 10k AI SK and it’s intended to teach AI literacy to over 10,000 people in the province. The program is open to both individuals and businesses. The training program will start running courses in October and is expected to continue until the end of 2027.
The group was inspired to make the program after seeing an increased number of people asking for courses on AI training.
The programs will start by working through the basics, such as AI history and terminology, before eventually working up to letting participants practice there AI skills using different AI tools.
Alex Fallon, the founder of Artificial Intelligence Saskatchewan, said, “I think so many people are maybe a little bit embarrassed, I was at the start, to say, “You know what I actually don’t know too much about AI, maybe I’m not using it that much”, and so this program will give them the confidence, the skills, the basic fundamental understanding to start using it more and that’s the best way to increase AI literacy in the province.”
Fallon explained that he sees the program expanding beyond the 10,000 people limit as AI becomes more popular in everyday life.
Courses are anticipated to run every month and potentially every week. Programs will be tailored to the size of each group of people.
