A man has been charged after a firearm was found in his car at traffic stop in Corman Park
On Friday, around 1:00 p.m., a Corman Park Police Service officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling on Highway 16 near Township Road 374.
During the stop, the member opened the rear door and was immediately confronted with what appeared to be a firearm in plain view under the back seat, positioned beside a machete.
The officer requested assistance, and a CPPS Supervisor attended the scene. The Supervisor examined the item and confirmed that the CPPS officer had located a real .22 calibre firearm.
The male was then arrested. The firearm and machete were seized as well.
A further search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a large quantity of cannabis and unstamped tobacco. Officers also located a knife on the accused’s person.
The accused was transported to the Martensville RCMP Detachment. He was later released on an Appearance Notice to attend Provincial Court in Saskatoon in August.
