Rosthern and Fort Qu’Appelle can expect some changes to both their bylaw and traffic safety courts.
For starters, two new municipal bylaw courts have already begun serving the communities of Rosthern, Fort Qu’Appelle and the surrounding areas. The two courts began their operations in late March this year.
The intent of the new courts is to remove pressure from municipal bylaw courts in Regina and Saskatoon. The courts will follow the model already present in Kindersley’s courts. Kindersley’s model of court has shown success, previously.
Rosthern and Fort Qu’Appelle traffic safety courts are also being changed, with the bylaw court and traffic safety court expected to be combined into a single sitting this summer.
Some other court investments being made include a continued investment in the Court Modernization Project, in which 3 million dollars was provided for ongoing enhancements in the Court of King’s Bench.
