Saskatoon will get the wind and rain tomorrow, but the city is not located in one of the two weather warning areas issued by Environment Canada.
The first one is a wind warning covering everything south of a diagonal line running from Kerrobert southeast to Esterhazy. Wind gusts in these areas could exceed 100 km/hr. Saskatoon could experience wind gusts tomorrow in the 60-80 km/hr range, which is below the warning level.
Environment Canada meteorologist Terry Lang explains.
Lang says wind gusts could hit triple digits in parts of southern Saskatchewan.
Rainfall amounts will vary from 20 to 30 millimetres over western Saskatchewan. While that will not be an issue in drier regions, it could be a problem in wetter areas like Meadow Lake which is under a rainfall warning.
Weather models predict the wettest areas in north-central, northeast and east-central Saskatchewan will receive less rain than western areas, but amounts will likely be in the 10 to 20 millimetre range.
And if that is not enough, the rain is expected to turn into snow Friday night and into Saturday across northern areas. Saskatoon could see a small amount of snow that would melt on contact.
