Saskatoon Mayor Cynthia Block says fingers crossed there won’t be a lot of snow to start next winter after the extended winter Saskatoon experienced this year.
She says the budget for clearing roads of snow and ice as well as snow removal is based on a calendar year, so the beginning part of the year has been a struggle. She says there is also a little wiggle room with the snow and ice reserve.
Mayor Block there has been so many freeze-thaw cycles which is also causing an unusual year for potholes as well. She says once the weather warms up for good crews will switch out to hot mix for a more permanent fix but up till now, they’ve been using the temporary cold mix.
To report a pothole, you can call the customer care centre or go to the city website. The Mayor says city crews try to get to the really emergent potholes same day or next day.
