Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s School of Nursing is being renamed the Leslie and Irene Dubé School of Nursing, in recognition of their $7.5 million donation to the $100 million Time to Rise campaign. The campaign supports the construction of the new Joseph A. Remai Saskatoon campus at Innovation Place. Sask Polytech says the campus will consolidate their existing network of decentralized, outdated buildings into a modern, technology-rich learning environment and will increase program capacity for more students.
President and CEO of Sask Polytech, Dr. Larry Rosia, says, “The Leslie and Irene Dubé School of Nursing is a fitting legacy for a couple whose generosity will enable our students to meet the growing healthcare needs of our province for years to come.” From the total donation, $1 million, will be used to establish an endowment for Sask Polytech psychiatric nursing student awards.
Irene Dubé says, “Nurses serve on the frontlines of providing quality healthcare in this province.” She considers them the heart and soul of caring, and says, “.We have witnessed this firsthand over the years and we now can demonstrate our respect by giving this gift.” Click here for more information on the campaign.
