The Prince Albert man arrested after officers found 51-year-old Beverly Constant dead had been in police custody a few hours prior to her death.
Prince Albert Police say on Friday afternoon, just before 1:30, officers responded to a home in the Unit Block of 28th Street West to assist Parkland Ambulance. Twenty-nine-year-old Everett Constant was transported to Victoria Hospital. Police report that he later assaulted hospital staff and after being medically cleared, he was arrested and held overnight in a jail cell. Saturday morning at 10 he was released with orders to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on May 30th in relation to the assault on hospital staff.
At 2 that afternoon, officers responded to the same home on 28th Street West about a violent family dispute. Beverly Constant was pronounced dead at the scene. Everett Constant was arrested and charged with second degree murder. He made his first court appearance on Monday.
The Prince Albert Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate. There was also an autopsy scheduled for Monday.
